How would you like to win a spanking new Mazda2 valued at €15,000?
Well, from May 11 until May 25, you will have a chance to win big with the Mazda ‘Defy Convention’ campaign, when Mazda Ireland and the Metro Herald of Ireland will run a competition on Facebook with a brand new Mazda2 as first price. The countdown began on May 5th in the Metro Herald, with an Ad explaining ‘How to AR’ and ‘How to Win’. Readers were prompted to download junaio, scan the ad within the “Metro Herald” channel and see a short glimpse of the car in 3D. Tapping the Mazda logo in the upper left hand corner will take them to the Mazda Ireland Facebook page where they can enter the competition and submit their answers.
In order to participate in the Mazda2 competition, users will have to access Mazda’s website to view the questions of the quiz competition. The contest involves a series of eight short video clips, each of which provides information about Mazda’s design and engineering philosophy. Each video is displayed as a thumbnail overlaid on top of a 3D object in the micro site, which when tapped, flips over to reveal a question. The answer to each question can be found in the corresponding video, which starts playing when the user taps the object a second time.
Mazda’s aim for this competition is for consumers to discover real story videos about how Mazda has borrowed from Japanese history and culture to think differently, achieve excellence and to ‘Challenge Convention To Make Things Better’ to build better cars. junaio and Augmented Reality is seen as a new and innovative advertising solution to help achieve this key business objective for Mazda.
Richie Kelly, Commercial Manager for Metro Herald says: “As a newspaper we are constantly looking at ways to bridge the gap between print and digital through smartphone technology. We’ve been aware of Augmented Reality for a while so when Mazda and Mindshare challenged us to create a campaign to ‘Defy Convention’ we knew it was the perfect solution.”
Motive NYC (http://motivenyc.com) created the “Metro Herald“ junaio channel for Mazda in conjunction with Metro Herald and Mindshare. The Metro Herald is Dublin’s quality free morning newspaper.
