Join the next junaio webinar tomorrow!

IMG-webinar_junaio_newsletter

With 350+ attendees from over 60 countries we had an extremely successful start of our weekly live webinar series. Last week Jacob Ervin from the metaio US team did a great job introducing the junaio platform in general and showing how to create the very first junaio scan channels via the junaio API or the metaio Creator software. As always we did a short survey after the webinar and received overwhelming positive feedback:

- “The content is well presented, and I`m not sure I`ve ever even seen this level of product support on any product asides from high end G6 jets.”

- “I am a newbie and everything sounds fine to me, I see lots of potential in the product”

- “I know some CSS and write my own website in html. So I was able to at least follow your instructions. Mr. Ervin gave a great presentation, very clear and competent, easily followed.”

- “It’s such a wonderful introduction to AR, I really appreciate the question answering session. The speaker is knowledgeable and explicit, if he’s available we want to have more contact with him in terms of AR.”

For all who missed last week’s session, here you can find the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cYkuldSrTE

This week, on Thursday, March 14th, 9am PST we will continue with the next junaio special. The webinar will be hosted by Nicolas King from the metaio R&D department. Thanks to his strong background in Javascript , HMTL5, CSS, PHP, Python, ActionScript3 and C# he is an expert for AREL and junaio channels with an increased level of complexity.

Galileo Relaunches Augmented Reality TV Show with Junaio

Augmented reality- the original second screen.

‘Second Screen’ is one of the buzz words of our time. It describes the parallel use of a smart device and a TV in order to interact with additional digital content available for the TV Shows, Movies or commercials the audience is currently watching.

Back in 2011 Junaio together with the German TV Show Galileo (Pro7Sat.1 TV GmbH) made history by introducing the world´s first mobile Augmented Reality TV Show – ‘Galileo Smart’. Viewers could participate by simply pointing their smartphones to the TV screen using junaio.

Exactly two years and 15 shows later, we are taking the Galileo Augmented Reality experience to the next level.

Today at 7 PM (CET) Galileo viewers together with the Junaio fans from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be able to participate in this all new, interactive quiz show experience. For the first time viewers can compete with users from other countries and regions, receiving results in real time with everyone else who is participating.

For more information on today’s Galileo Smart experience, check out: (German only) www.junaio.com/galileosmart

And if you’re in the Central European region, download Junaio and don’t miss tonight’s broadcast!

RE’FLEKT Augments Conference Experience For Wittenstein

Brevity is the soul of Wittenstein.

Reflekt Augmented Reality using Junaio Plugin

(For the Weekend is back!)

(Happy New Year)

Mechatronic (yes that’s a real thing, not a Transformer) product portfolios benefit from innovative and interactive presentations at conferences and expos.

That’s why industrial component company Wittenstein joined forces with augmented reality creative agency RE’FLEKT to implement a 3-D product showcase solution for its “alpha” line for the 2012 Motek fair in Stuttgart, Germany.

RE’FLEKT developed an iPad app that allows customers to see and interact with select products using different patterns printed in a booklet. In this way, Wittenstein can use the booklet as a solution for sales and presentation for visualizing product information, thereby influencing and informing purchasing decisions. In addition, the customer can scan patterns with Junaio, Metaio’s Augmented Reality Browser, to access the experience for themselves.

This Augmented Reality experience proved to be a very efficient way to present not only static products but also their range of features. The booklet turned out to be an innovative tool for Wittenstein and is a progressive way for communicating and branding.

Great work by RE’FLEKT- they are no stranger to working with Metaio technology and we look forward to their future projects!

Junaio Fall Newsletter – Mobile Augmented Reality Updates

Dear Friends,

After some exciting weeks following our insideAR Augmented Reality Conference we wanted to update you with the latest news from the junaio ecosystem.

Next to a selection of great new junaio channels we will give you an introduction of our latest updates to junaio and the metaio Creator tool as well as our Vision of the Augmented City.

Your junaio® Team!

Great new Channels

This year LEGO® celebrated its 50 year anniversary all over the world. LEGO® Norway created a special print campaign using junaio. During September readers could find three large fold-out LEGO® posters in several Norwegian magazines showing the classic Norwegian landscape. By scanning the posters they could search for several hidden 3D LEGO® models bringing life into the static scene through sound and animation.Watch the video // Try the experience!

At photokina2012 the GFW PhotoPublishing GmbH presented an AR print experience to their ad customers, including leaders in the camera industry. Using a 3-D Model of an SLR-Camera they impressively showcased how AR can interact with ads in photo magazines. The feedback was outstanding and several customers already showed serious interest. The German magazine PROFIFOTO already plans to publish the first AR-enriched ads in their Q1/2013 issue. First this will be based on junaio, as a second step a white-label magazine app is already planned. The demo channel was created by junaio Certified Developer Concepteers GmbH from Germany.

What works in London of course also excites people in Japan! So, junaio developer Wiz corporation just launched a high quality location-based channel allowing you to search and find more than 5.000 nationwide train stations from Japan Railways Group. In addition, they have created a very nice visual appearance of the channel.

Beginning of October we hosted our annual insideAR 2012 Augmented Reality conference in Munich, Germany. Along with keynotes from LEGO, IKEA and other great speakers our 500 international visitors could experience the latest R&D developments and product updates from metaio. This year our R&D department used junaio to present their latest achievements for the first time in public and of course we want to share these new features like an updated SCAN view which now instantly searches for junaio enabled print or the possibility to recognize and augment real buildings in your city with you. London Bus Live Merges Open Data with Junaio Augmented Reality

It was a beautiful ceremony.

Hey, do you remember how Junaio is totally awesome at inputting big, dynamic API’s? We do. And so did WT Infotech, one of our Certified Developers, when they developed this very cool project using the open data that the United Kingdom freely offers to its citizens.

As you can see from the screenshots above, the “London Bus Live” Junaio channel offers both the ability to locate and navigate to nearby bus stops (within 250 feet) as well as getting real-time information on specific buses and travel times! From WT Infotech:

London being a huge city and with thousands of tourists/business travelers visiting the city every year, the problem of finding bus stops around you could be a challenge (even while looking into the 2D maps). We aim to create value for the community by addressing this challenge in London’s public transportation, by introducing “London Bus Live”.

Are you a resident of London who owns an Android or iOS device? Just download and launch Junaio from your local application marketplace (or just go here) and then in the Search screen search for “London Bus Live”. Or just scan the QR code below in the AR scan screen (it’s really that easy). Also, we’ve made it even easier by featuring the channel in the London area, so it should appear right on your home screen.

For more information, check out the following resources. Congratulations and great work to WT Infotech! We look forward to seeing your future projects.

IKEA Awarded Best Augmented Reality App of 2012

You love Junaio, you really love Junaio!

The highly prestigious Annual Augmented Planet Reader’s Choice Awards are the year’s most anticipated Augmented Reality awards. Led by Augmented Planet, the most widely read non-commercial AR blog on the internet, they consolidated their various nominations into four important categories this year:

  • Best AR Browser
  • Best AR Developer Tool
  • Best AR Marketing Campaign or Viral
  • Best AR Application

After being nominated for all of them(!!), Junaio and Metaio placed in the top three of the first three categories. Edging out Blippar, we placed 2nd for Best Augmented Reality Browser, as well as narrowly beating Layar & Layar Creator for the 2nd spot in the Best AR Developer Tool for the Metaio Augmented Reality SDK & Junaio Augmented Reality browser platforms.

But most importantly, we won a very-well deserved FIRST PLACE with the IKEA Catalog app for the Best AR Marketing Viral Campaign of 2012!!

Thanks again to Augmented Planet and their readers, with special applause for the Junaio team and McCann Erickson for leading the development and design of the app.

Check out the links above for more information- remember, a successful AR application needs great technology to power it. Metaio and Junaio have benchmarked, award-winning computer vision technology at your disposal, completely without charge for development or deployment.

We’re proud of our developer and partner network, and we will never fail to give them credit for the amazing things they do. Just another great reason to be part of the Metaio & Junaio ecosystem. To learn more, check out some of our software or download Junaio and start developing today.
